A card received from the Republic of Tatarstan, which I had never heard before ! The capital of the republic of Tatarstan, part of the Russian Federation, is Nizhnekamsk, 226,000 inhabitants. The city was founded in 1961 Nijnekamski work settlement. It remains an important center of the petrochemical industry.
The Kazan Kremlin is the main kremlin in Kazan city. It was built under the orders of Ivan IV (tsar of Russia from 1547 to 1584), above the ruins of the former castle of Kazan khans. The postcard shows the Cannon yard and Söyembikä tower. The most important building of the kremlin is the tower of Söyembikä, which leans to one side and dates from the reign of Peter I (eighteenth century). The Kazan Kremlin is inscribed on the World Heritage List of UNESCO since 2000.
