Depuis le milieu des années 1800 jusqu'à nos jours, le Longhorn (ou longues cornes en français) est devenu petit à petit un symbole des ranches texans et de la culture cow-boy. Ils s'adaptent à toutes sortes de sols et résistent à des environnements difficiles. C'est une race bovine à viande, sa production de lait est très faible.

From the mid 1800's until the present the Longhorn steer has become a symbol of Texas ranching and the cowboy culture of the state. They will graze on most any ground cover, have withstood harsh environments, are selected for economic gain and can make a significant impact on the beef cattle industry in Texas.
