Tsar Kolokol

Voici une photo prise en 1900 de la Tsar Kolokol, ou Tsar des cloches à Moscou. Cette cloche se situe au Kremlin. Elle a été fondu en 1735 par une équipe de 200 hommes, à la demande de la tsarine Anna Ire, pour réaliser le rêve de son grand-père Alexis Ier. La cloche a été brisée lors d'un incendie en mai 1737, alors qu'elle était à peine coulée : un éclat de 11,5 tonnes s'en est détaché. Elle n'a donc jamais sonné. C'est en 1836 qu'elle fut déposée à son emplacement actuel, à côté de la tour d'Ivan Le Grand. Il s'agit de la plus grosse cloche du monde, pesant 201 924 kg, haute de 6,14 mètres pour un diamètre de 6,6 mètres, et une épaisseur allant jusqu'à 61 centimètres.

Here is a picture taken in 1900 of Tsar Kolokol (or Tsar bell) in Moscow. This bell is located in the Kremlin. It was cast in 1735 by a team of 200 men, commissioned by Empress Anna Ivanovna, to realize the dream of his grandfather Alexis I. The bell was broken in a fire in May 1737, when she was just casting: a burst of 11.5 tons is detached from it. She has never been rung. In 1836 it was placed in its current location, next to the tower of Ivan the Great. It is the largest bell in the world, weighing 201,924 kilograms (445,170 lb), with a height of 6.14 metres (20.1 ft) and diameter of 6.6 metres (22 ft), and thickness of up to 61 centimetres (24 in). The broken piece weighs 11,500 kilograms (25,000 lb).
