Pour sculpter le visage, Bartholdi a été inspiré par sa mère. La statue mesure 93 m de hauteur (du pied du socle à l’extrémité de la torche). La hauteur de la statue en cuivre est de 46 mètres.
I received a postcard from New York. The Statue of Liberty (Liberty Enlightening the World, in French: La Liberté éclairant le monde) is on Liberty Island in New York Harbor. It was designed by the French Frédéric Auguste Bartholdi, with the help of Gustave Eiffel, and dedicated on October 28, 1886. The statue is a gift to the United States from the people of France. Miss Liberty bears a torch and a tabula ansata (a tablet evoking the law) upon which is inscribed the date of the American Declaration of Independence. A broken chain lies at her feet. The statue has become an icon of freedom and of the United States.
To make the face, Bartholdi was inspired by his mother. The statue is 93m height (foundation of pedestral to tip of torch). The height of copper statue is 46 meters.
Thank you Jane
