Mir Castle

J’ai reçu une carte de Belarus (Biélorussie) : Le Château de Mir. Ce site est inscrit sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l’UNESCO. La construction du château, en style d’architecture gothique commença à la fin du XVè siècle. Il fut très abimé au fil du temps et des nombreuses guerres, en particulier pendant la période Napoléonienne. Le château a été restauré à la fin du XIXè siècle. Pendant la seconde guerre mondiale, il fut occupé par les nazis qui en firent un ghetto pour la population juive.

I received a postcard from Belarus : The Mirsky Castle Complex. It is a UNESCO World Heritage site. The construction of this castle began at the end of the 15th century, in the Gothic architecture style. It was being damaged during many wars, especially during the Napoleonic period. The castle was restored at the end of the 19th century. During the second World War, it came under the dominion of the Nazi and served as a ghetto for the local Jewish population.
