Fraser Island

Elle montre l'île Fraser en Australie. Cette île est située le long de la côte sud du Queensland. Elle a une longueur d'environ 120 kilomètres pour une largeur d'environ 24 kilomètres. C'est la plus grande île de sable du monde. Elle compte 360 ​​habitants.

L'île Fraser Island est habitée depuis environ 5000 ans. L'explorateur James Cook a débarqué sur l'île en mai 1770. Pendant une courte période, l'île s'est appelés "Great Sandy", ou grande île de sable. Elle a pris son nom de Fraser en raison de l'histoire contée par une survivante d'un naufrage nommée Eliza Fraser. Aujourd'hui, l'île est une destination touristique très populaire.

L'île Fraser a été inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO en 1992.

It shows Fraser Island in Australia. This island is located along the southern coast of Queensland. Its length is about 120 kilometres (75 mi) and its width is approximately 24 kilometres (15 mi). It is the largest sand island in the world. It has 360 inhabitants.

Fraser Island has been inhabited by humans for as much as 5,000 years. Explorer James Cook sailed by the island in May 1770. For a short period the island was known as Great Sandy Island. The island became known as Fraser due to the stories of a shipwreck survivor named Eliza Fraser. Today the island is a popular tourism destination.

Fraser Island was inscribed as a World Heritage site of UNESCO in 1992.

Cette carte arrive d'Australie ! Melbourne se trouve au sud-est, c'est la capitale de l'Etat de Victoria, et la deuxième ville la plus peuplée d'Australie après Sydney. L'agglomération compte environ quatre millions d'habitants. Melbourne a été fondée en 1835. Elle est souvent appelée la «capitale culturelle de l'Australie".

Sur la carte : Le sanctuaire du Souvenir dans le Domaine des Rois commémore les Australiens qui ont perdu leur vie en combattant pour leur pays. En arrière plan, les gratte-ciels de la ville se profilent à l'horizon.

This card is coming from Australia! Melbourne is in the south-east. It is the capital of the state of Victoria, and the second most populous city in Australia after Sydney. The population is about of four million (metropolitan area). Melbourne was founded in 1835. It is often called the "cultural capital of Australia".

On the card: The Shrine Remembrance in Kings Domain commemorates those Australians who have lost their lives fighting for their country. The Melbourne city skyline looms in the background.

Kangourou

Ma toute première carte d'Australie. Il s'agit d'un magnifique kangourou roux.
Le kangourou roux est le plus grand de tous les kangourous et le plus grand marsupial vivant. On le retrouve à travers toute l'Australie, évitant seulement les secteurs plus fertiles dans le sud, la côte est et les forêts tropicales nordiques.

My first card from Australia ! It's showing a beautiful red Kangaroo.
The red kangaroo is the largest of all kangaroos, and the largest surviving marsupial. It is found across mainland Australia, avoiding only the more fertile areas in the south, the east coast, and the northern rainforests.
