St Petersbourg

Cette carte montre l'église de la résurection du Sauveur à St Petersbourg, appelée aussi "Cathédrale Saint Sauveur sur Sang versé". Ce nom fait référence au sang versé lors de l'assassinat du tsar Alexandre II qui fut mortellement blessé à cet endroit le 13 mars 1881. La construction commença en 1883 sous le règne d'Alexandre III, en tant que mémorial en l'honneur de son père Alexandre II. Les travaux avancèrent lentement et furent finalement achevés en 1907 sous le règne de Nicolas II. C'est la famille impériale, aidée par de nombreux mécènes qui finança la construction.

This postcards shows the church of the resurrection of Christ in St. Petersburg, also called "The Savior on the spilt blood". This name refers to the bloodshed following the assassination of Tsar Alexander II at this place in March 13, 1881. The construction began in 1883 under the reign of Alexander III, as a memorial in honor of his father Alexander II. The work advanced slowly and was finally completed in 1907 under the reign of Nicolas II. It is the imperial family, aided by many patrons who financed the construction.
