Il situe à la frontière nord du Grachtengordel (le canal de ceinture) et sa construction a commencé en 1614. Brouwersgracht signifie «canal des brasseurs », en raison des nombreuses brasseries qui le bordaient aux 17e et 18e siècles. La plupart d'entre elles ont été reconverties en appartements branchés de style loft.
La zone des canaux du 17ème siècle d'Amsteram est inscrite sur la liste du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.
This postcard shows tHE Brouwersgracht in Amsterdam. There are around 165 canals in Amsterdam! The Brouwersgracht may just be the most charming canal of all. It is on the northern border of the Grachtengordel (canal ring) and construction began here in 1614. The Brouwersgracht means "brewers' canal", since the canal takes its name from the many breweries that lined its banks in the 17th and 18th centuries. Most of these have been converted into trendy warehouse apartments.
The 17th-century canal ring area is on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
