Aujourd'hui, nous voyageons vers l'Italie, à Milan. Le Duomo di Milano (en italien) est la cathédrale de Milan. Cette cathédrale gothique a été construite en près de six siècles. Il s'agit de la quatrième plus grande cathédrale au monde. L'archevêque Antonio da Saluzzo a commencé la construction de la cathédrale en 1386. En mai 1805, l'Empereur Napoléon Bonaparte, sur le point d'être couronné roi d'Italie à Milan, a ordonné l'achèvement de la façade. Il a assuré que toutes les dépenses seraient supportées par le trésor français, qui rembourserait les frais. Même si ce remboursement n'a jamais été payé, grâce à cetté décisions, en seulement sept ans, la cathédrale voyait enfin sa façade achevée. Les derniers détails de la cathédrale ont été terminés au 20è siècle : la dernière porte a été inaugurée le 6 Janvier 1965... 579 ans après Saluzzo !

Today, we're going to Italy, in Milan. The Duomo di Milano (in italian) is the cathedral church of Milan. This Gothic cathedral took nearly six centuries to complete. It is the fourth largest cathedral in the world. In 1386, Archbishop Antonio da Saluzzo began construction of the cathedral. On May 1805, Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte, about to be crowned King of Italy in Milan, ordered the façade to be finished. He assured that all expenses would fall to the French treasurer, who would reimburse the Fabbrica for the real estate it had to sell. Even though this reimbursement was never paid, it still meant that finally, within only seven years, the Cathedral had its façade completed. The last details of the cathedral were finished in the 20th century: the last gate was inaugurated on January 6, 1965... 579 years after Saluzzo!
