L'abbatiale de Saint-Michel a été construite entre 1001 et 1031 et reconstruite à nouveau en 1186 après un incendie. En 1542, l'église Saint Michel est devenue luthérienne. Elle fut détruite par un raid aérien pendant la Seconde Guerre mondiale en 1945, puis reconstruite à partir de 1950 et achevée en 1957. C'est l'une des plus importantes églises de style Ottonic (pré-roman).

Abbey Church of St. Michael's was constructed between 1001 and 1031 and build again in 1186 after a fire. In 1542, St. Michael's Church became Lutheran. St. Michael's Church was destroyed in an air raid during World War II on 1945, but reconstruction was begun in 1950 and completed in 1957. It is one of the most important churches in Ottonic (Early-Romanesque) style.
