Vila Real de Santo António est une ville située en Algarve au sud du Portugal, près de Faro. Vila Real de Santo António a été fondée en 1755 après le grand tremblement de terre de Lisbonne, et fut largement étendue en 1774 en utilisant la même architecture et les mêmes techniques de construction que celle utilisées pour la reconstruction de Lisbonne.
La municipalité est bordée par l'Océan Atlantique et est frontalière de l'Espagne dont elle est séparée par la rivière Guadania. C'est la ville la plus au sud est du Portugal.
